Information

Traditional carport structures have long been a cost-effective alternative to garages and have graduated to full structures sometimes including facia boards, gutters and downpipes to suit the most discerning customer's requirements. As with shadeport structures, traditional carports also offer protection against wind, hail, and sun. We offer a complete service, from supply and erection of the standard structures to the manufacture of special structures to suit your specific requirements, including non-standard sizes and shapes, including a-frame and hip structures.

CONSTRUCTION

Our standard Carports are constructed as follows:

INFORMATION

1. Steel: Support columns are mild steel tubing. Sheeting is either supplied as corrugated or IBR profile and is either cold rolled, galvanised or chromadek finish. Lip channel is mild steel. All parts are either welded or bolted together.
2. Foundation: For standard applications, columns are concreted into the ground or expansion bolted/chemical anchored to surface as per requirements.
3. Finish: All mild steel is treated with an anti-rust coat of oxide primer and then finished with a colour coded quick dry enamel, as per customer’s requirements.

SIZES

Carport sizes are also usually indicated by the number of cars they can house, i.e. a single unit can accommodate 1 x vehicle. Sizes therefore include, but are not limited to:

1. SINGLE UNIT: 2.5m x 5m
2. DOUBLE UNIT: 5m x 5m
3. TRIPLE UNIT: 7.5m x 5m
4. QUAD UNIT: 10m x 5m (2 x adjoining double carport structures, with 6 x columns)

MAINTENANCE

Due to the nature of the material used to construct carports, the most common maintenance regime is practiced in order to prevent rust and/or leaks. Therefore, roofs must be kept clear of leaves and other objects posing obstruction possibilities to the gutters and down pipes. Additionally, columns need to be sanded and repainted from time to time. Other than this, carports require little or no other maintenance at all.

TYPES OF CARPORT

1. FOUR POSTER, FLAT-TOP STEEL CARPORT (STANDARD STRUCTURE): This is a flat-topped carport with 4 upright columns – one at each corner of the structure, supported by lip channel purlins and rafters. It is available with or without gutters, and with or without facia boards.
2. CANTILEVER, FLAT-TOP STEEL CARPORT: This is a flat-topped carport with 2 upright columns only, placed at the front of the structure. Using square tubing as supportive hanging braces, and lip channel purlins, this structure allows for total access when turning into the parking bay. It is available with or without gutters, and with or without facia boards.
3. A-FRAME STEEL CARPORT: A-framed carports are available in both standard 4 columns and cantilever steel carport designs. This structure consists of a pitched roof design either 4 upright columns or only 2 upright columns (planted at the front of the structure). It is available with or without gutters, and with or without facia boards.

4. DOMED STEEL CARPORT: Domed carports are available in both standard 4 columns and cantilever steel carport designs. This structure consists of a domed roof design either 4 upright columns or only 2 upright columns (planted at the back of the structure). Square tubing rafters and purlins ensure stability of the structure and the IBR/corrugated sheets are fastened with screws. It is available with or without gutters, and with or without facia boards.
5. HIP-ROOF STEEL CARPORT: Domed carports are available in both standard 4 columns and cantilever steel carport designs. This structure consists of a central point-pitched roof design, with either 4 upright columns or only 2 upright columns (planted at the front of the structure). It is available with or without gutters, and with or without facia boards.
6. DIY KITS/REPAIRS: Additionally we offer repairs on existing structures – nets and poles, as well as supply-only or DIY kits as an extremely cost-effective alternative.
